Author: Jenna

When Jenna (she/hers) was a kid, she wanted to grow up to be a stand-up comic. Now she's a Teen Librarian, and it turns out there's not that much of a difference. She works at a public library in Central New Jersey (which is a real place, despite many residents arguing to the contrary.) Jenna is an advocate for teens and queer youth. She came up with her opinions herself which, maybe not all that original, do not reflect the views of the community or library where she works. Find her on Twitter @heymissjenna and Instagram @missjennalibrary.

*flails* Sir Prance-a-lot is stoked for our last Rainbow Storytime, which is about to start in a few minutes! This is my display that’s #queerallyear so for #pride🌈 I just amped up. I always have a bit of trouble snapping pics of this display area. It’s a windowsill, so it’s backlit and I get a lot of glare. BUT ANYWAY, here is my newly refreshed #pridemonth YA display. We still have six more days of #pride🌈 people! The final stop on our summer reading promotional tour was Forest Avenue Elementary School! Thanks for having us, and we’ll see you at the library! We visited F. N. Brown Elementary school today to get the kids excited for the library’s summer reading program! We visited Laning Avenue Elementary School today to get kids pumped for the library’s summer reading program. Thanks for having us, Laning! This note brightened my day on this #SaturdayLibrarian shift! Love my library teens and tweens! 🏳️‍🌈 We had fun at the rainbow bead bracelet program earlier this week. 🌈

#MeToo

February 1, 2018 Jenna

In January 2018, I created a #MeToo display in the Young Adult section of my library.

[Photos of display + list of titles used]

Please feel free to use the following files as you wish. I do not need credit if you use any of these in your library! But I would like to see your displays if you create one!

[#MeToo sign – PNG format]

[#MeToo explanation signage- PDF format]

[#MeToo Pamphlet (edit as needed to tailor to your library) – .docx format]
