“Throughout this year, Jenna has read and evaluated close to 200 of our potentially eligible [Rainbow Book List] titles. She has a strong grasp on selecting titles with good writing, comparing books with both other eligible titles and previously published works, identifying potentially problematic aspects of a work, and finding appeal factors for her patrons.
I have seen her passion for connecting youth with literature and her enthusiasm discussing titles with the rest of the committee. When deliberations for our committee started floundering on ALA Connect, Jenna introduced us to Slack, and that communications platform has been a great help.
She is an active member of the NJLA Young Adult Services section, and has served on the Garden State Teen Book Awards committee in addition to her service on the Rainbow Committee. These committees have given her a wider support network of other librarians that Jenna can tap for ideas, feedback, and collaboration that she can use for upcoming projects.”
